Hello!
I've been lured to the Source SDK thanks to some great vids on YT which linked me to this forum. I've been mapping since yesterday so my skills are basicly somewhere inbetween the 'ultra suck' and 'massive fail' level. Anyway, after playtesting my creation a few times (added stairs, smoke, water, a big sphere that i can push around, crates and objects) I found it rather annoying that everytime I pick a weapon up when I already got one in my hand, the one I already have vanishes. I also lack a HP counter.
Is there some way to get a HUD to appear when I play test? Or do i have to have the HEV suit or something?

Welcome to mapping I've only been mapping about 4 Weeks and on CSS. I Have tried mapping for HL2 but because I dont play it much i never finished my map. When I tested my map, I had two guns on the ground but it never swapped them over when I walked over them. How are you putting guns down? I had trouble with the hud aswell thats why I stopped. But Don't you Stop. Wait for the Pros to read this aswell, as I have only been mapping 4 weeks. HappyMapping

Thanks for the response RAM,
I've laid down a weapon_physcannon on the bare ground, a func_physbox spawns an weapon_AR2 when destroyed, and a crate spawns a bunch of weapon_crowbar when destroyed. I can pick all weapons up fine.

item_suit seems to work for me. Indeed it does, as when you play HL2 you will also notice that once you get your HEV suit that the hud apears. if you take the time to look at Valves example maps an Item_suit is always on the spawn. The feature is an actual baked in part of the system which is why it is required.
