Hey, I was just wondering if there was a possible way to make a flamethrower in hammer for L4D2.
Also, I'm curious if anyone else gets the purple and black missing texture when using the "Heat Wave" option for an env_steam entity in l4d2.

I think the heat wave worked for me, maybe needs HDR?
Flame thrower as in... Jets of flame off a pipe for zombies to walk through? Easy. Stationary Mounted Usable (Aim-able) Flamethrower? Possibly, if func_tank (or similar) works in L4D. Hand held weapon? Unlikely without mod.

As in jets of flame off a pipe, i can't seem to find the right entity for it, then again, I seen to be forget simple things easily, or i could just be looking in the wrong place and it isn't and entity. Anyhoo, enlighten me.

Well, I've tried the env_fire, but it's not the same I'm looking for. I also don't think there is a way to change the env_steam into fire, only "steam" and "heatwave".

You'll need to make your particle effect most likely

Thinking about it, i don't think ive seen a flamethrower even in HL2. HOWEVER they got around it by using the steam effect + standard fire. Basically one switch releases loads of gas, the other ignites the gas with an electric spark. Maybe with could work for you too? Would be fun to code the entities together Maybe this could be a replacement to the effect you wanted?

I made one of those, because I wanted one in my map, but if I didn't make it myself I'd feel guilty of stealing valve stuff. I did look at what entities they used to make it, and I'm pretty sure mine is better. The gas runs out after you catch it on fire and the gas stops pouring out so you have to turn the valve and shoot it again. After 30 seconds.
