Sorry to bother you guys but, mostly all of my maps that have a shiny material like glass will have a transparent black and pink overlay on it. I've tried mostly tried to see if it was the cube maps but I'm stuck. Got any help ?, R.R.

Purple and blue checkered squares indicate a missing file- in this case, the env_cubemap for the shiny materials (The reflection image). To fix it I suggest you add some env_cubemap s into your level, compile it, then type buildcubemaps in the console. Once it's finished going through them, quit the game and load it up again. Your level should be fixed.

Sometimes I get this on even valve maps, if its happening all the time check that its not just your PC.

My Skyboxes ALWAYS do that... Regardless of WHAT I try to compile it to, the skybox is ALWAYS Blk/Pnk. What gives?

Just mine - even using the tools/skybox. At first it was because I was appending the wrong mat to it, but after watching 1/2 dozen YouTube vids, I guess it shouldn't matter (?).

Ironically, now I'm having the same sound-loop/ clip-to-crash issue with MY map.... WTF.
If I can ever get it to load, I'll do that, above.

Cool. It worked fine on my tester map (a la env_cubemaps, included). The YouTube vid helped alot, too. Any difference about adding only - or more than - one cubemap?

Which ever one you're closest to will be the one that is used on your weapons and body.
