Hey there, I was wondering if anyone knows how to loop an ambient_generic, I've tried a bunch of different methods but they didn't seem to work.. Probably wrong methods.. I'd managed to import custom .wavs into the game, I can set it so when i pass a certain trigger it plays the sound, just it won't loop or restart over once its finished playing.. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

I've had a look and it needs to be a certain type of sound by the... sound of it. Hohoho. Ones ending with _loop tend to work, whereas door handles don't.

Hmm.. Do you reckon theres any way to turn a custom made .wav into a loopable sound? Perhaps if i rename the sound say... Outbreak_loop.wav?

Welcome There is a setting in the flags tab of your ambient_generic called "Is NOT looped", turn that off.

Ah yeah, I always keep that off. I can get sounds to loop that have _loop on the end.. like wind and such, but when it comes to custom made sounds I'm stumped. Is it possible to loop custom made sounds?

It's a very good website.
So in short, you need a logic_timer to play the sound every (Length of sound) seconds.

If it's an mp3 yep. If it's a .wav, just open up goldwave, go to tools and add a cue.

im trying to get my custom sound to play with the ambient_generic. i did the cue and its a wav file. its under the raw sounds in Hammer. i added to the ambient_sound entity, and Is Not Looped is checked off. and now it won't play at all, do I need to add a trigger_multiple or once around the placement of the sound or something else.
the sound is the map's background music.

Try another sound and see if that one works. That cuts out some of the possibilities.

now im getting a message in the console saying, failed to load stayalive/woods.wav, file might be missing from disk/respority.
