Use a point_template entity to create the item, and some kind of button to make the point_template actually CREATE it in game.

I don't know how good you are at mapping. I presume you know about making butons and the outputs of them (If not, select a block, press ctrl+t and choose func_button, then go to the outputs tab). From there it's straight forward- the top of the 3 / 4 (can't remember! Oh no!) white boxes you choose the option 'on pressed' (Press APPLY before you go looking for this option, it'll update the entity type and will allow for this option) , the second should have the name of the point_template , then 'SPAWN' in the third or something.
