Hi all! I've been making a jail map, and for some reason, some of the doors will be completely unlit on their sides. This only happens to some of the doors, and if i shine my flashlight on them, it will be fine. Thanks!

It happens when the origin of the entity is inside a wall, and therefore unable to have it's lighting calculated.
Make it move into an empty free space, where it does not touch a world brush at all. (Or touches an entity, like func_Details, maybe).

Actually, I already did hollow out a place for the doors to go in. The door fits perfectly, and I nodrawed everything in there because you can't see it. Also, the door will not touch any entities on the way in.

I found out how to fix the problem . The problem was that hammer was calculating the lighting of the door while it was on the wall, so it was pitch black. What I did was I put a func_brush beside it and disabled shadows, so it would light up the side of the door.

I've guessed putting entities instead of world brushes next to it, but disabling shadows i did not think of. nice one.
One step closer to a fix...
