Is the 2006 engine still working for half-life 2 DM? mine has worked fine until 2 days ago and on starting i get a "missing material editor/wireframe" fatal error. going by what valve says here: Engine versions The Source SDK currently has three engine versions. A user can choose the 2006 version of the Source Engine, which is only used by Half-Life 2: Deathmatch, Half-Life: Source, Half-Life Deathmatch: Source, and various mods built on old Source 2006 code. All other Source games were updated to the most recent 2009 version of the Source Engine, with the exceptions of Episode Two, which used the 2007 version between May 11, 2010 and June 23, 2010, and various mods built on old Source 2007 code.[1][2]
if you map for hl2dm you need to use the 2006 engine any ideas on the "missing material editor/wireframe? i have deleted all sdk content and re-installed, refreshed, reset, and verified tool content, checked the configs and launch options and still get the "missing material editior/wireframe Thanks

It's been updated to the 2009 engine. In the SDK window, "Reset game configurations" should do it.
Play the game (since the update) before attempting to use it's SDK.

I have reset "game configurations" and half-life 2 deathmatch didnt appear on the drop down list,so on "edit game configurations" i entered half-life 2 deathmatch and browsed to programfiles/steam/steamappps/acctname/half-life 2 deathmatch/hl2mp "select #vgui" and now its in the list and i can open a small test map everything seems normal but no weapons in entity list and when the map is complied and when you try to run it hestitates then goes back to main menu (never gets to loading window) thanks zeph hope you can figure this one out ,a pint is on the way.

yes, i went over the list again on a fresh sdk, made a new simple map and it worked fine, so i tried the first test map, didnt work, hesitate then nothing(duh) look at the map name "2009engine test.bsp" i should know to NOT leave a space in the name. i removed the space and the map started. The big question of the day is, i have a map that 80% done on the 2006 engine i have tried to load it up in the 2009 engine and it will load up, but when you select a door (or anything) it takes about 6 seconds to highlight red, and after complie, its .bsp is about half the size. so scrap the one almost done in the 2006 engine and re-do in the 2009 engine because the code is different?not a real big deal, but i bet its a big deal for some mappers that have a huge involved map almost done on the 2006 engine and uh-oh re-do. Thanks for your help(cold one your way)(iam in the USA so there in a 5 hour time difference on the answers)

One would try copy and pasting the map into a fresh 2009 map. To start, only copy across World Geometry, and not Entities. See if this works.
You may have to remake / replace the Entities, since their code of their functioning may have changed. The code for the World Geometry, however, should not have changed. So you shouldn't have to re-block-out the map, just replace all the entities.
