Hello!
I have a quick question about Monitors. I know how to create one, but I'm not sure how to make a single screen and resize it to the height and width of the brush / entity.
For example, if I make a monitor, it tiles the monitor, making more than one "monitor" within the entity. I just want a single monitor.
Do I have to adjust the texture? I tried doing this, but when I do, it simply stops showing whatever is suppose to be displayed in the monitor. (Or I didn't scale it right.)
Any help would be appreciated!

With the face edit tool select the face and click "FIT" (located under "Justify"). This will stretch the single-texture segment to the brush size.

Thank you very much for your help, a speedy reply! I knew it was something relatively simple involving stretching the texture, but couldn't figure it out.
I just started using Hammer last night. I'm catching on unbelievably fast, but I'm still not sure what some things do yet. I just sort of ignored the whole "Justify" section.
Thanks again!

One recommends reading the FAQ announcement, if you're new. Happy mapping.

I snuck this in as an edit, but it was probably overlooked:
Oh, quick question if I may. Is it possible for the camera to show the player, when in firstperson mode? I'm modifying Portal, as Chell has her own model when seen through Portals, and 3rd person. However, she's not seen by the camera unless you modify it to 3rd person. Do you know if it's even possible to show the 3rd person model from the camera view, even when in 1st person?

It should be doable for Chell, since you can see yourself through portals. It's beyond me, perhaps a portal-related mapping forum could help further: forums.thinkingwithportals.com/maps-and-mapping/(i even found one for you!) In L4D, if you look down you see your feet (unlike hl2 and maybe portal). This means in first person, you do have a self-model, which suggests it may be a better base to mod from.
