Its not that simple. For some reason when I press Save or Save as it says what kind of file it will save as right? Well, the downbar only comes up with .map files which are map files and worldcraft files .rmf and no I can't compile it because it keeps saying it can't find the .vmf. The downbar usually had .vmf untill I made this map called cs_searchdestroy and ever since it only will save as a .map or a .rmf. Compiling wont work for some reason I really don't know and the texture thing your talking about is NOT the problem, I changed my textures to ones only for CS:S which I'm using but still! it won't save as a .vmf Thanks guys for all of the support eyefunk

Which version of the Source SDK is this? Are you mapping for Counter Strike or Counter Strike Source?

Ok I just tried something, I started up Hammer and tried making a map for hl2 and it came out fine as a .vmf not anything else. Maybe in my Counter Strike Source map Im putting in textures not for CSS? I don't know and my SDK/Hammer is fully updated with Steam. And Sorry John the name is not the problem its how its saved. If I did that it would come up as cs_searchdestroy.vmf.map or cs_searchdestroy.vmf.rmf. Maybe I have a texture thats not loading right so it wont save as a .vmf. I don't know so if anyone can help me, it would be very helpful.

I'm going to ask some simple questions, just in case one of them is actually the reason for this.
1) Do you have a legal copy of CSS, Source SDK and so on? 2) Have you ever made a map that works, or is this your first map? 3) Are you using the version of Source SDK which is available on the Steam menu, or is it one that you've downloaded separately? 4) When you press F9 and compile, does it create a BSP in the cstrike/maps folder?
