Hey. Sorry if it is too much to ask, but please think out what are trying to say in the future. Anyhow, based on your other posts you have been executing compile fine with "RUN MAP" So I don't know where your issue is. Just to verify you do realize that when you execute "run map" (F9) it compiles your map into a .bsp in the maps current folder then copies this to your game file... now if you understand this and still have a different issue then please specify (or perhaps somebody else knows what you are talking about). It's just I've never seen a "Save as bsp" feature... Well best of luck.

*facepalm* .bsp's are created when you run the map (F9). and it takes a while.

Save it with the default file type... I don't recall the name / am at school right now but if you save it as foo.rmf or what the default is, and compile it, it will compile as foo.bsp in the same folder as well as copy it the game's map folder... Now please, this is not irc -- you have time to think about what you want to say.

Alright, sorry, I had been rushed before. Since that doesn't seem to work I'm going to ask a few questions. First off, what specifically are you using. Since you are mapping for half-life 2 I'm not sure what you mean by "Not the source sdk one". If you ARE using the normal hammer editor it should be easy. Now here is a little excerpt from a previous post: ==== Total Win32 BSP file data space used: 210017 bytes ==== Total triangle count: 814 Writing c:\program files\steam\steamapps\mitcha3\half-life 2\hl2\maps\the survival.bsp 16 seconds elapsed ** Executing... ** Command: Copy File ** Parameters: "C:\Program Files\steam\steamapps\mitcha3\half-life 2\hl2\maps\the survival.chache.bsp" "c:\program files\steam\steamapps\mitcha3\half-life 2\hl2\maps\the survival.chache.bsp" ** Executing... ** Command: "c:\program files\steam\steamapps\mitcha3\half-life 2\hl2.exe" ** Parameters: -game "c:\program files\steam\steamapps\mitcha3\half-life 2\hl2" +map "the survival.chache" You see how that saved a bsp file and copied it over to your games map files. Now my question is what are you doing differently now that you can't just use the .bsp file now... If you are doing something much different please describe thoroughly so we can actually help. Really though, what are you using? Worldcraft? You should be saving as a .vmf and compiling to a .bsp... if you are not I don't know why you are doing all this for a hl2 map... If you can't save as a .vmf save as one of the other types and import it into the normal Hammer editor... If you can't do this because you stole the game or something, then I can't help you -- have a good day.

if a BSP file is not being created, and you are compiling, there is an error which stops the creation of the bsp.
Post your full compile log.

FULL compile log. no editing.
You can't find the map because it's not being generated because there is an error which we can only solve if you post the compile log.

when in hammer hit F9 and a textbox should show up wait for it to finish compiling and hit "copy to clipboard" at the bottom and paste it here edit: make sure you have you map open when you hit F9
