ok so I added a light_env entity. then set the pitch and pointed it at the ground. saved. compiled. and ran the map.
what I'm seeing is pure blackness. if I turn the flash light on and run around objects are all still there and cast shadows and what not.
In testing I added a light entity and that seems to work but.... the map I'm building is very large so the light entity doesn't light up the map quite enough.
Everyones tutorial says to set up the light_env entity the same way so... Do I maybe have a setting wrong somewhere? (I'm doing this for DOD:S)

light_env comes from sky boxes. Just making sure you have a skybox texture (Thats the blue squarey tool texture, not pictures of sky and clouds) around your map in which the light can come from.
Make sure also you compile with RAD to fast or normal.

thanks zeph,
so I resolved my issue. I went back and looked at the texture I had for the map I had a texture that had the word skybox in it which was apperently not what I should have been using. I replaced it with Skybox2D and it works correctly now.
