Yes you can, you need these entites, logic_timer, env_laser, info_target, light, ambient_generic and a env_sparks. Place the env_laser high in the skybox, name it laser_lightning, set its noise to 200, its color to off-white, and set its next keyframe to laser_lightning_strikepoint. Give that name to the info_target and place it where you want the lightning to strike. Place the env_sparks there and name it lightning_sparks. Place the ambient_generic near the lighting, sets its max distance to 6048, in its flags tick Is NOT looped and starts silent, I cant remember what sound to use but I think you can search and find it, then name its lightning_sound. Place the light near the env_laser, set it to and off-white color, and put its brightness at 2000. Tick initially dark in flags and name it lightning_light. Now its time to tie everything together.
Go to the logic_relay, outputs and put the following. NOTE: The first box will always be the same, Ontimer.
laser_lightning TurnOn
laser_lightning TurnOff (with a delay of) .2
lightning_sparks SparkOnce
lightning_sound Play Sound
lightning_light TurnOn
lightning_light Turnoff (With a delay of) .3
Then set a minimum/maximum random time for the lighting in the logic_timers, options, making sure that use random time is set.
