Yeah, lets see how smart u REALLY are at CSS 3klik. Ive ben trying for quite a while now and i cant get a dedicated sever to work. I challenge u, to some how walk a total noob (me) threw createing a dedicated sever. My hope is to make my own sever that OTHER PEOPLE CAN JOIN (which is the part i normally have problems with) and i can host my own maps on it so i can like... show my buddies my maps. and maybe get around to makeing that clan sever my friend and i were talking about hah. anyways yeah. I have some experience with creating a dedicated sever, and normally i can get one running, and i can add bots and what not but no1 can join because of the "sever not responding" error. I was hoping u could type out like a really long explanation on how to create a ded sever, or if u can just give me any tips or something...... anyways its relly late at night and i got school tomorrow : (, so this probally sounds like shit. anyways, ill chek back later.... byeee

Dont bother, it will never be as good as a real server. You're better off just paying for one.
If you really must its probably because your using a router like vidstig said. If it doesn't work after you forward the ports forget it, it wont be possible behind your router.

Although internet connections are getting better, they'll never be a substitute for the real thing (well, they might be once we get 50 mbps but what EVER...)
I haven't managed to be able to host a server on my router, it just refuses to work. £12 a month for a server is nothing when you realise how much easier, more fun and flexible it is.

laughingsquid.com/wp-content/uploads/ev-do_router_4.jpg this is one of many different routers. How many computer do you use at home? Do you got WLAN? Router is contacted between the computer and the DSL (INTERNET)modem. But if you don't know your way around computer....just drop it

download the program hamachi (your friend 2) create a server in hamachi. go ingame and create your server, look at hamachi for the ip-addres of your server give it 2 your friend. he has too type connect too "yourip-addres" and voila ! only you have too type something else in your console so he can join but i forgot what.. maybe you'll find it after a search on google
good luck

It worked for me but apparently it was very buggy and occasionally the connection would just die occasionally. If I could be in two places at once I would be able to try myself.

I've pretty much given up on this sort of stuff, I'd rather just buy a server and have a good ping and time to lead a normal (hahahAHAHAHAHAHAHAA) life

Yea I had the same problem of the "Server not responding." I'm guessing you already have all the server things needed so I'll just continue on for the Server Not Responding error.
So you gotta port forward. Go to "Run" and type in cmd, then ipconfig /all. From there look for your ip address. It should be like 192.168.".". Yea ok. So you got that? good. You know try to figure out your router and you go to 192.168.1.1 in Internet. That's your router config site. So I have linksys so I go to Applications and Gaming. For port fowarding. So now you type in the 3 things CSS1 CSS2 CSS3 as the 3 names and the ports are the following 1200-1200 UDP 27015-27030 TCP 27000-27039 UDP ok now you have it port forwarded. Now you go to your server.cfg and type this under the server name IP "External IP" Port 27015 In "External IP" you have to put in yours. You can find it on google.
