Hi,
I'm new to mapping, and i've had a great deal of info from the youtube channel of 3kliksphilip.
Now I'm stuck with one problem, and one thing I don't know how to put it in the map.
My skybox doesn't work for pie. It doesn't. I watched ALL the video's of the skyboxes, and I STILL turn up with a white sky when I render it with HDR enabled, and with a copied sky of my weapon and map when I disable it.
And then one question. When I was making the snow map, I thought: "Hey, wouldn't it be great if there is snow falling on my map?"
I looked at particles, but i didn't understand it. At all.
Maybe some extra info, It's a TF 2 map.

Are you trying to make a 3dskybox? or a normal one?
If your skybox is pure white try a different texture, and try without HDR aswell, if it works without HDR then theres something else you need to do to get HDR working, I never use HDR so I cant help you with that.
Check for any gaps in the skybox, as for the snow, I dont think TF2 has the snow texture.. So it probably wont work.
Upload your .vmf file to rapidshare.com and post the link here, Ill TRY to see whats wrong when I have some time.

Ok I'll try that, But does CSS has Snow Particles? And I was thinking of making tints to buildings, like this: www.st-hughs.ox.ac.uk/assets/Image/Senior_Member_Photos/Main_Building_snow.jpgTo the trees, but especialy the building. Thanks so far for your help! EDIT: I tried to do skybox normal texture, that wont help, and I did Militia_hdrbk, and also filled in Militia_hdr, but nothing seems to work. ( I used Skybox texture first, then map, and edit skybox as seen in the videos.)

You can add snow particles by making a trigger box, selecting it, ctrl+t then choosing func_precipitation
and yeah, if you upload your vmf we'll take a look at it.

Yeah what I was saying is I dont think that TF2 has the particles, so some func_percipitation textures arent there.
CS:S Doesnt have snow either from what I've tried, same with ash, it does have rain though.

Ok, don't get pissed off on me now, My map...worked. I renderded it in TF 2, it didn't. I rendered it in CSS, it did work fine. If you still want to take a look at the 0.1 version of my map, here is the link: rapidshare.com/files/145747206/New2fort.vmf.html

The reason that the skybox doesn't work in TF2 is because it's a CSS skybox.

Hmm, I cant see any reason why your skybox wouldnt work.. Anyway, you got it working so thats good.
Ill give you a bit of advice though.
1. Your env_sun is touching your light_enviroment, move them away from eachother.
2. Your water is wrong, I know it works, but you need to choose a different texture, thats a very ugly texture and theres much better water, your using DX 7 water.
3. Give all your water the nodraw texture, then apply the water texture to only the top face, that is the correct way to do it.
Good luck
