I'm getting a bit confused trying to learn how to use inputs and outputs. I have added an env_splash over a bit of water and I want it to play constantly as if it were being rained on. I random to no, and set its fire rate, but I think I am going to have to use a logic_timer to make it play continuously every second. I don't know ANYTHING about how to tie entities together, and can't work out how to tell the splash to look for the logic timer etc.

Haha, it's not too bad. The logic timer, first set it to "random" and set it's upper and lower boundaries. time is in seconds. then go to it's output tab and add the following: OnTimer -> <nameOfEnvSplash> -> Splash that's it make sure the splash is on the water surface, or near and above, with the flag ticked.

Ok I did what you said to the logic timer so that its output says on timer, then it goes to the name of my env splash, but it's not working, I may have missed a step, you said "ontimer -> name of env splash -> splash" what did you mean by the last word splash?
PS I got my spinning fan working thankyou and also with env projectedtexture casting a moving shadow.. although for some reason the shadows are really weird and theyre on some faces and not others.. may have to resort to making animated decal instead.

Lol! Ahh well. For the fan, make the shadow targets simple and world brushes, not entities. Could help.
