Do any of you know where i could find a prop_static custom model of a camera that looks like this? www.neiparts.com/security/camera/images/22462.jpgAlso, is there a mirrored version of the cs_assault surveillance camera that they include in the source sdk? Thanks!

No idea. But you could probably make one, try the program Blender.

Thanks, but I don't really know how to model stuff. I know what blender is, but is applying a texture to a model easy? i don't think that making the camera itself would be that hard, just 1 half sphere and a cylinder. (i could probably make it in hammer actually)

Due to the sphere (and the cylinder), making it in hammer would be very costly on the number of faces, and therefore textures. Repeating this object many times would quickly push you to the limits. It needs to be a model really, as they do not count towards the face limit.

BUMP!i agree with zeph that this should be a model, especially if you have a bunch in your map, BUT, i was somewhat intrigued by this article fsr, so i tried building one quick out of brushwork using the "lathe" mehtod: Download! It took me 5 mintues to build and scale the brushwork, but A LOT longer trying to light and texture it properly and failing glorously(another reason to do something like this as a model). If you only use a handful of these in your map you shold be ok. you can see in the map it is a little test chamber, and you only lose about 30 fps for 2 pallets of cameras, plus the pallet geometry. SO, if you use a moderate amount, it shouldn't negatively affect fps.

oh that is just a thing i have in my "newmap" template, and if i'm making a test map or example, i usually just leave it there, i.e., it serves no useful purpose would love to see your map when you're done, also you can hit me up on email - captain0terror@gmail.com - if you need anything else, i'm always down to build a prefab =)
