How do I check for overlapping textures before I compile a map, or during a running bsp test? You know the texture flickering because two or more textures are on the same grid line.

Simple - learn how to map.
It's all about brushwork. Never overlap brushes. Easy as that.
If you use proper snapping to grid, it's so incredibly easy there is no excuse.

There is no way other than play the map and keep an eye out. But really, there shouldn't be any in the first place, so there would be no need to check.
