I don't know exactly where to post this, so here goes. I know it's possible to make transparent textures, but is it possible with Gimp? I make the background transparent, save it as TGA, but it says "The file extension .tga does not support transparency." then it does the export thing, and the texture has a white background (after VTFEdit). I need transparency for overlays (I don't have photoshop).

I was able to do transparent for a radar once, Long ago. Took me ages to figure it out, had troubles like yours. Try to find a tutorial. You might want to use fpsbanana uner the tutorials.
I am sorry cant rememeber how I did it. I used gimp though.
