Looks like corrupted textures to me. I had a problem like this and it turned out to be my RAM.
I recommend updating your graphics drivers first. If that doesn't fix it, it might be something to do with your hardware.

The 5200 is far below minimum requirements and does not support the necessary functions in hardware to run L4D.

It wouldn't cause corruption like that. It has the direct x required to run the game, if not the speed.
Perhaps you're running out of RAM!
Have you tried downloading the latest drivers for your graphics card?

He could try to update graphics drivers. Doubt it would help though just properly remove them before installing new ones. How to here: www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=397064&st=0entry1059006054"NOPE. i had a 5200 before i upgraded to my 3850HD. it would start, but it artifacted so much it was unplayable. most textures were artifacts and the gameplay rate was like 1 frame per second. also, why ask here if your machine will run it, when systemrequirementlab and other sources CLEARLY state your hardware is inadequate? do you expect us to give a different answer?? here's what you do, you have 2 options: 1. UPGRADE--> get at least 2GB of RAM, and get a better video card (the AGP 3850HD is the best AGP card out there, and it will easily run the source engine games) 2. UPGRADE--> get a more modern, whole PC." Source: forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=808127

Thanks for the help. I just upgraded my computer and it works GREAT. I got a NVidia 8800 video card, and i'm trying to get more ram(up to 4 GB). My dad also said if i get all A's and B's in school he'll get me a 1 TB hard drive. It's not that i'm going to use the space, it's just that i like a lot of room (upgraded from an 80 GB Harddrive). I also had to wipe it clean recently because my internet connection was screwed for some reason, and this virus (I think it was a virus) infected my computer and basically STOLE my harddrive. at first my harddisk said that it only had 1 mb left, then the next day it said it had 0 bytes . But now my computer is practically brand new, and virus-free

I would spend it on something a little more usefull. If your video card was that bad then whats your cpu? 80gb is not that bad unless you got a shit load of games or gtaIV installed

My computer was a 2002 version Dell computer, and came (obviously) with its standard video card.

Now, I seem to have another one. However, this is for Left 4 Dead AND Hammer compiling. A message comes up saying the following: "Failed to load the launcher DLL: The specified module cannot be found." Any idears?
