When i try to compile a map in Hammer Editor, it crashes and says VBSP stopped working. Click wait, and wait.
It just uses 100% cpu so appears crashed when it's not.
A fuller compile log would be useful (ie the bit which shows VBSP).
My guess is it gets stopped on "Portal Flow". Just a guess.

Before compiling, press CTRL+ALT+DEL and go to PROCESSES. Start compiling, then find VIS in the compile list. Right click on it, set priority to low. I use this when both compiling maps and rendering videos, it lets you use your computer at 100% speed while it compiles, the only down-side is that it will take marginally longer to compile. I guess. I haven't really seen any increase, seems win-win to me and makes life a lot easier. I just wish it was set to low automatically.
