New video, hopefully I'll be able to make a massive FAQ here from any questions that people happen to have about the water. ---QUESTIONS---HELP! sloped sides make strange triangles on the water!Yeah, it's a bit of a bug. Either make the sloped sides func_detail (And be sure that the water is still sealed in by a normal brush underneath that isn't a func_detail) and it should look okay. HELP! Water textures with 'cheap' in the name is a single colour.Place an env_cubemap entity above the water, run the level and type 'buildcubemaps' in the console. Quit the ENTIRE game and load it up again and the water should look better. HELP! Cubemaps not working.Be sure to restart the ENTIRE game. F10. Restart. If it still isn't there, make sure that the cubemaps have actually been built and that cubemaps do actually exist in your level. Also make sure that it's not just a case of the WRONG cubemap determining the reflections of a particular surface. You can force a cubemap to apply to a certain surface in the cubemap's properties in Hammer. HELP! Water doesn't show up unless under surface. If the water texture you've used has 'beneath' in the name, it won't show up unless you're in it. Find another texture. HELP! under water is bright white! You have a leak in your level. Go up to 'Map' at the top of the screen and choose 'Load Pointfile'. Follow the red line and see where it takes you. Plug up the hole. HELP! I can't see one of my water textures / it's blurry! If you have more than one water block in your level, and they're at different heights (and are both being rendered at the same time), it will cause problems. To fix it, make one of them out of the dx7 water (The bad looking water). With this texture you can make as many faces watery as you like. Useful if you have, say... a VERTICAL MAZE MADE OUT OF WATERY TUNNELS. (Yes, I have been asked how to do that before). HELP! My water keeps exploding. At least there aren't trees coming out of it.

Of course, it must have been in garrys latest update! Wait, he can't do that... So what the Fψ€* Is going on? AND IT'S ON VISTA!! FRICKEN VISTA!!

I'm pretty sure that Source doesn't have any dx10 features.

I'm pretty sure that Source doesn't have any dx10 features. I was just wondering, why do all of your videos have trees in them in some form? Like the water one right there, you had "tree" in the texture filter. Not complaining, btw. :D

When i set up a map with water in it and compile it, the water in-game appears to be completely invisible, but i reacts the same way water does when i shoot it and go into it. it is only invisible from outside of the water.
so can anyone help?

First, what texture are you using?
Second, make sure all sides are textured with NoDraw, and only the top is textured with your water texture.
Third, make sure that there are no other visible water sources on a different horizontal plane.
Fourth, and probably more important than the above, make sure that your map is correctly sealed. Post your compile log (in a new thread, preferably, in the forum dedicated to water problems.)
