Does anyone know anything about the dynamic shadows of the steel grate I see in this picture from Black Mesa Source? i tried to make a brush with the grate texture on it and make a shadow of a grate but no luck.... maybe there was a prop that they constructed... idk... what would i need to do to accomplish this lol? thanks Attachments:

Highly likely a prop, rather than brushwork. I doubt you can get that pattern through a solid block, even with a semi-transparent texture.
Have a good look through the model list for it.

Yeah unfortunately there is no model available... since it is taking them so long to release the game and it is not on any of the HL2 games...its time for me to start making models now so ill give it a try
thanks a lot

I've been trying to find this model myself, but look no further its a brush. Make a brush out of nodraw and use these textures : de_nuke/nuke_metalgrate_01 and metal/metalgrate013b, well them are the textures in that screenshot... Check the vmf : www.mediafire.com/?6g4gb733s5xcsn2

You could fake it with many block_light brushes under it, in a grid pattern?

Just use that brush with a env_projectedtexture pointing at it.
