Source SDK won't turn on, nor will it defragment. Steam is slower, too. This sucks because I went to a submarine from WWII and recorded that creepy sonar sound, and I made it loop. I was planning on making a map where you had to investigate a distress signal in a submarine with no one left alive. I don't really have time to work on it today anyway, but help would be appreciated.

Oh. I didn't really want to do that because I had to reinstall everything, but I did anyway, and it worked. I don't really know what was wrong with Steam, but whatever. I was trying to send you that sound, but filefront wasn't working. D:

with valve games (only) you have two things:
1) the gcf file, which stores all the data. This is what you download.
2) the install folder. This is the one under your user name.
Sometimes the install folder gets corrupt, it's happened to me. Instead of deleting everything, only delete the install folder (backup first! Especially with Source SDK, maps are stored here!) and then run the game. You shouldn't need to re-download since u still have the gcf file, but you'll get a fresh install folder. If you did it via steam, it'll delete "all local data" including the gcf. Just means more downloading.

Ah, thanks. I downloaded the steam installer already and uninstalled the whole thing. I backed up my maps and stuff of course.
