The yellow boxes are a simple setting in Hammer for the 3D camera to increase the distance at which it renders models. As for the lag, all maps NEEDs optimising. This is FUNDAMENTAL for all maps, and is so often ignored resulting in laggy useless maps. Basically, if you do not optimise your map, you are just an amateur map maker who's maps will rarely get played. One of thousands. A good place to start is the UberMicro FAQ guide, at the top of any forum, under "optimisation".

yeah well i never had a problem on the old computer with it but with this one it seemed to appear and that is what i did to fix it... adjusted the distance... and when i opened the map and played it, it seemed to have all my water systems leaking and they were ok on my old computer... i copied it all and pasted everything in the level to a new one and it works now. no lag and the water is good again. i do optimize all of them too. i wasnt sure if it was something in the file transfer or what.
