Well, I'm making a map for Episode 2, and it starts out on the inside of an old abandoned, rundown building, on the bottom floor and you have to fight your way up( Not that you care about all this stuff, so let me just cut to the point). When you spawn, there is a crashed elevator, and I want Gordon(Or the character) to start off with lower health than 100. Like in the beginning of Hl2:ep1, how Gordon starts out with 47 HP (I know this because I just played ep1 earlier ). Thanks for any future help ( Sorry I had to type a story...) -TKDonutz

Strange, I thought I already posted here.
Anyway, just off the top of my head: Trigger_hurt that does whatever amount of damage around spawn, which gets turned off after 1 second by a logic_auto.

Indeed a Trigger_Hurt. Place it around the Info_Player_Start.
Add the output: OnHurtPlayer -> !self -> Disable
This will therefore only fire a single 'tick' of damage. Note that it normally does half the value you enter every half second. So if you put in to damage "30", thats 30 damage over one second, or 15 damage every half second, or per tick. Since you disable it after one tick, it does 15 damage despite its value of 30.
Remember to tick "Applies to Clients" in the flags tab.
