Hey Guys! I came from the youtube tutorial videos here by recomendation and thought I might ask a few questions to you!Firstly! What sort of map should I make?: House (one house, one garden, 1-2 Bomb Zones) Warehouse (large open areas with open warehouse buildings) Outside (very open area, perfect for snipers and camping with 2-3 bomb zones and rough terrain) Next Question! What is the best thing to have on a map?: Camping Zones (area for people to sit and camp in long grass) Sniper Spots (long areas perfect for sniping) Open Areas (normally allways included) Hidden Places (buildings with small coridoors and alleyways) So leave a message telling me what you like! I will be uploading all maps to gmod.org find any of my maps here by using the tag [r1ddlepker] Thanks people! ;D

If I wanted a map to play on, I would probably want a warehouse or a warehouse hybrid with the outside, a house is simply too cramped.
Being that it's a warehouse, you can have lots of cover, and a more random assortment of.....whatever the warehouse is holding. A house isn't linear enough (in my opinion) and doesn't have a good flow, unless you do a really impressive job.
I would say a warehouse with a few hidden places and moderately open areas with good amounts of cover would be the funnest (for me at least).

Just block line-of-sight, don't turn it into a sniping match because you can see all the way down to the other team!

Make sure there is more than one floor, but don't make any of the extra floors too advantageous. As in, don't make one of the floors at a position where you can see the entire map, but rather have them more or less be pathways leading to otherwise hard to reach areas of the map.
Example, a ventilation system that goes to the middle of the map, and ends off in a pretty well covered/ fortified area. Since you are doing a warehouse, maybe some tall stock shelves (no idea what they are really called) could act as pathways or shortcuts, or maybe even hollowed out spaces in between boxes and items on the shelves, like a little tunnel.
Just brainstorming.

Hello! I have been working on this map for some time now... I am now currently uploading it to garrysmod.org, When it is on there does anyone mind testing it? If you do please just post a message in this forum bit and ile give you a link to it... or I will give you the tag to be able to find it? So you choose want to be a tester for my map and tell me what you think? P.S. if you decide to test the map... It is my 1st ever map ive made properly... all others I have made have been little tests e.g. buy zones ect. so I hope someone would like to try it out!

I can help you with map optimization if i had the VMF (not BSP). This can greatly boost your frame rate on your map.
As for in-game testing, I'll let the people who play the game do that one!
Bout time you made an account with us R1ddle!

Hey Guys me again! Wanted to reply to a few things while im here:"I would say a warehouse with a few hidden places and moderately open areas with good amounts of cover would be the funnest (for me at least). " - Taken onboard what you have said and will be making a new map with mainly outdoors but with little warehouse areas, like assault but less indoors! "Just block line-of-sight, don't turn it into a sniping match because you can see all the way down to the other team! " - Ok instead of doing this, leaving long open areas where a sniper could easily pick off people, should I: 1 - Make little or no sniping area (not sure about this option) 2 - Make some small halways or alleys down sides of buildings where sniper can go snipe? (I think this is better option) "Shame you never mention UberMicro. " - Umm yeah... I dont know why asking a question about who prefers what map really needs "UberMicro" mentioning? I think that I will mention ubermicro if I need to but I am just using this page to gather ideas
I think I have covered everything in this post If I haven't and you want me to add more feel free to leave another message and I will read and reply to all of them... not directly but what I did above
Thanks and Bye!

Hi Guys! Its me r1ddle / Luke Map Maker Made an account with this website... Im glad I can finaly reply to your comments! One thing I wanted to add: Don't think that im taking your / our / the community's ideas and making my own maps with them. What I am infact doing is working out what the best maps are, then finding out how to improve them... also any problems I find ile come to you guys then we can all have a say in how I make the map... Yeah thats right the map... I am building all of the ideas into 1 map, I will make 2 versions of the map a bomb version and a hostage version. So if you like hostage games better download that one and so on. I will post on here when I have finished the map with a link to either garrysmod.org or somewhere you can download the maps... I think I will leave a question for you to answer every time I post... So answer me this question: What is a good amount of people in a game, both hostage and bomb... I normally like around 20-25 so lets see what you think! Thanks! By the way just call me Luke
