Hi, my name's Zeph and i've been clean for 3 months! During this time my lappy broke and i've been unable to build maps. This meant that all answers i have given of late are from theoretical studies and memory, not experimentation. However! Today i have gained my new lappy. It's a beasty: Mod: Xtreme 790 CPU: Intel i7 2.66GHz (Quad-core) Ram: 6GB DDR3 GFx: GeForce GTX 280M 1Gb HDD: 30GB SSD (For OS) + 2x250GB HDD (RAID 0) Whatcha guys think?

I'm on my old computer (Small Form Factor Qbic, cute!) Tis a 2.8GHz single, 1Gb ram with a GF6600 gfx. Upgraded to the HP laptop, 2.2Ghz duel, 4gb ram, GF8600M Now have as above. The Qbic is getting old, but still runs L4D1 hehe! EDIT: fun fact - they dont make a i7 core for laptops, so they put a desktop core in it! the power adapter is HUGE and weighs a ton, and takes standard IEC input! Oh and also they 'accidentally' put two 500GBs in instead of two 250GBs which i paid for.

CS video test with MAX graphics at 1920x1200 = 126fps. That'll do, pig. That'll do.
It took me a day to install windows 7 because the damn company installed it twice on the Raid and the Solid-State HDD, and only the Raid one worked. Had to format both and install again fresh.

I've not done much, thats why.
Ive made a test map, which includes new ideas as i go along, testing stuff. Ive blocked out a castle (Bodiam) Ive... that's about it really.
My problem is im happy to build a map, but i need to follow a design, even if its just a sketch!

The majority of what Ive learned from mapping has come from just doing it. Theres some things even tutorials cant teach you. I remember reading somewhere a while ago that the worst thing about being a one person mod team is theres no graphic designers to design your level for you. Part of being proficient in mapping in seeing the finished product in your head when really all you have down is several nodraw blocks.
