***FINISHED! Dl at www.fpsbanana.com/maps/113610. There's piccies there too! First there was death_run... then 4000 people copied death_run... and now... DEATH_RACE!Sorry, had to do that. My idea is an awesometastic new map type called death_race for Counter Strike: Source. I've had the idea for a while now, but never acted on it. It's a bit complicated to describe, so here's a picture! When a CT reaches the win area, the terrorists are wiped out, vice-versa. It basically works the same way as deathrace, with the "one terrorist who spawns here" operating the controls. The CTs have to run all the way down the course whilst not getting pwned by the traps. I think it's a pretty cool idea. If you're confused, ask! EDIT: OK, I have a proper design now... it's win. Open to suggestions! Any trap ideas, hit me up. NOTE: At the win area, you can choose whether you want to kill the other team, or try to kill them with guns.

Steal different traps... It should be a long deathrun and preferably different levels. So it is not the same "death race" whole time.

Idk if im a jerk for posting this but, here it goes. XD
I have already created a death_race sort of map, where its 1v1 CT vs T, and they are racing to the finish, they are seperated by glass so you can watch the enemies progress, and they must dodge the same obstacles. the person who finishes, gets to buy weapons, and hunt down the loser through the obstacles, but of course the winner will be on top of the obstacles so he wont have to redue them.
Sorry if i took your idea sk8r2000, but i would still love to see a map created by you!
Edit: Ive had the map for a few months, never released it for anyone, only kept it so me and my friend could 1v1.

Serph... Your idea is more of a death run... His idea is more of a death race. More players plus ct and t on different sides to trigger trap.

Either way you think of it, the way sk8r2000 and i put it, even if they are not exactly the same, they can be considered a race, because in my map, and in his idea, the purpose is to get to the end before the other person, which is a race. a death run is more around the lines of surviving the traps.

Well that's cool, maybe if anybody gets around to turning this from an idea to a project you'll have some input for them. The basic concept is the same, however the mechanics are different and as such the game play will feel different and it is still well worth mapping. Hell, if I find some time I may do a tf2 version (but this particular week my bad habits have caught up to me and I'm doing a month of work for a few classes and as such don't have enough time to start).

NOONE CAN HAZ MY IDEA! Lol, just kidding, but I am gonna make one. I was working on a death_race before I lost my computer (long story) but I should get my new one tomorrow, which means I should get round to it this month (got a lot of stuff to install!) In response to serph: Although that is a similiar concept, mine is completely different. First, yours is 1v1; mine is a whole team v a whole team. Secondly, there is actually someone operating traps. Thirdly, when you get to the end the other team dies, not guns (but I might change that). Please try to not double post, edit instead. -John

Oooo, John is quick... should make a reaction time chart of all incidences... though in that case I may need to attempt to make some more data... anyhow...
Sweet, be cool if you could keep us updated, interested in how you will do this. And now since -- after two days of too much work -- I am either forgetful enough to remember what I had to do or don't have much to do, I may be able to think some about possible implementations... happy mapping ^.^ (as soon as your new computer is all good and well)
And yeah, sorry to hear about the whole computer thing, and having to install all that stuff... Hope you have the cd-keys for all the expensive stuff as not everything is as convineint as steam (I lost some like $600 software last time I had to reformat because somebody had thrown away the box and apparently there is no other legal way, yay... wasn't using it much anyhow so it's cool though).. hopefully you can get back up and running soon.

You should make it so players can choose whether to operate traps or make a run for it. You'd have to make it advantageous to run to the end, but still let people choose to operate traps. No one wants some AFK noob to be the trapper for their team.

Yeah... got the new computer today, and it's a massive fail. Part of the front of the case is smashed up which makes the front hang off, because of the design of the case it's impossible to put a monitor in... pretty painful. I'm thinking of putting the components into an old case (even though the new one is epic but atm I just want to get it working) TO WHOEVER SAID IT, rest assured that as soon as the PC is up and running, and everything is installed I WILL start on this map. I've actually got some proper designs drawn up, hopefully I can draw them onto the PC

^^ oops, forgot to log in :S but it was me dafatcat; The person who does the traps changes each round, so on a server with more than, say, 6 players, AFKers won't be too big of a problem.
