I've almost finished my map, but I don't want to upload it even if it's finished as I don't agree with the judging procedures. I feel it would work more better for other forum users and yourself that entries are posted in the form of 3 screen shots. This can help the mapper think more creative and worry less about playability issues and other small qualms. This model is being used quite successfully on the www.interlopers.net forums who have a large user base of skilled mappers and host mapping competitions regularly

OK here is my map, this is for Portal www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=2e705206c63535c167cd7f7bd65f7eefe04e75f6e8ebb871To Load the map:: You put the files in steamapps/your username/portal/portal/maps, in game open the console(` on GB keyboards, ~ on US/other(I think), if it doesn't open go to Options -> Keyboard -> Advanced and tick "Enable developer console"), type map <map name> (which is ProjectDivinity, idk if you need the .bsp @ the end or not...) The map is fairly large and hefty because of the cubemaps, and it is HDR. I used WINRAR to compress the map, so you will need that to open the .rar and get the map. This map doesn't really have a point to it, it's more of a story without an ending, you decide what really happened at Project Divinity... I added a Q and A about my map in case if people think some stuff is outrageous. Q:What is this building called? A:Project Divinity Q:What is Project Divinity? A:Project Divinity was created by Aperture Science in the fight against the Combine. When the Combine first attacked, Aperture Science knew it was only a matter of time before the Combine would take over. AS (Aperture Science) knew that eventually the Combine may kill some of the worlds greatest minds in the process of taking over the world. So AS gathered as many as they could, and put them to work against the Combine, by making the most complex computer viruses, or any other way to cripple the Combine with technology instead of brute force, unfortunately for some, against their own will but for the greater good. Q:What happened at project Divinity? A: It is unclear of what happened as there is no Combine presence, because if the Combine actually knew what was happening at Project Divinity, it would be true that the Combine would harness AS's technology, as AS has THE most advanced technology on the earth, and arguably almost equal to the Combine. You will notice carvings on the wall saying "over here" and an arrow sign, which leads you to the dead bodies...who did this? We're not sure, it couldn't've been any of the scientists, as all their bodies are accounted for. Q:There's only milk and beans in their food supply, you can't ONLY live off this, i mean really. A:As i have said, AS has the most advanced technology, and although it is not known, but AS is very advanced in Bio-Technology, but this was kept under wraps, even among the company. One of the projects was to make it so that you could only live off minimal types of food, but by adding nutrients into the food, so that the recipient would feel full, and not be malnourished. NOTE: The map doesn't end, it only ends when you want to, but srsly, pretty much at the roof, its over. 99 Posts

People should upload to fpsb. Looking at the required screenshots on fpsb is alot easier than using an upload site.

Learned alot from your great tutorials so i'm joining to show some appreciation. I've been following the contest rules, working on a desert island map and it's almost finished now. just some more detail & updating performance at the moment. I'll post a video comment with some footage from the map and a rapidshare link with it, also putting it here. Cheers & thanks again for helping us out on working correctly with Hammer with a nice sense of humor . -Robin

You have about 30 hours left before this thread gets locked. I'll then go through and collect every map with a link posted here.

got a map, i started yesterday cuz i was unaware of the contest... got a big problem with water, anyone telling me what to put into the field of block id when the error is ''Leaf 4373 (portal 17859) with too many portals. Use vbsp -glview to compile, then glview -portal -portalhighlight X or -leafhighlight L to view the problem.''
that will be a great help!

I started the project yesterday, so my timesframe was very small, then i saw a bug with the water. Nevertheless I know for sure noone tried what I did, and I am quite certain noone has tried what i tried with Hammer ever. Here is the VMF: www.mediafire.com/download.php?ydztetdqkmhFeel free to compile (it will take a minute) and spectate and see the view. I would have made the track to move, but i didnt have enough time. If you can fix the water please PM with how, so I dont screw up like this again. Next contest I will do much better, I promise. <SPOILER> I made a Roller Coaster <SPOILER>

Map for Counter Strike Source Original concept -- broken up boat crashes onto small island. Original versions had the boat broken up, however when I made it actually look like I boat I rushed it too much so I could not cleanly manipulate it much more after that -- it looks like crud as is (note also why sun is so low, originally sun lit boat from fallen in floor on one side). Also note that I had missed the DESERT Island part, however wiki says it could technically still be a desert island... in any case I've seen much better entries so wasn't planning on winning anyhow, just wanted to submit this. I got to the point where I knew I just needed to start a new project as I had messed this one up too much last Sunday but I'm glad I actually somewhat completed a project and thank you for giving me the opportunity. Enjoy the microbrushes ... will be sure to do much better next time. www.mediafire.com/?ryymtylo5u2Side note: In case you don't notice there is a boat that goes around the island, was going to add more but I've been too busy the last week to play games or map. Thanks for the tutorials and the great chance to actually map something other then a mechanics test / puzzle style map(working on one for tf2 spy).
