how do i add expensive water to my map what textures do i need to use so it can reflect the objects nearby, like we see it in half life 2 lost coast

I think this tutorial of 3kliksphilip can help you out, watch some of the water types reflecting the boxes, and pick one ;D

i had seen this tutorial before but its not what i want, i want my water to look real as it is in hl2 lost coast

Youll have to experiment, some water texture do this and some dont, anyway make a cube map 32 units above the face of the water, double click on it in 3d view, click brush faces, then the dropper button and select the face of the water. Build your cubemaps and wah la reflecting water as best as it gets in source.

There's more to just good looking water than the water texture. I doubt that there's anything special about the one in the Lost Coast, it's just that they've added a nice coastline, lots of detail and HDR as well and that tends to make it look better.

how do i add expensive water to my map what textures do i need to use so it can reflect the objects nearby, like we see it in half life 2 lost coast hope this is the right place to post ;D i dont think you can get the water they have in lost coast, mostly because valve stepped up the HDR lighting in it, and it isn't available through episode 1's engine.
