Does anyone know how to get rid of it?
If I want to make a map in which you go along a floating platform or something like that I always get that unpleasent view of a white square in the bottom and that's not so good....

It's because the skybox you've chosen doesn't have a bottom to it (apart from that colour). Add in a 3D skybox of the ground or find another skybox which does have a base. I'd suggest the 3D skybox option but it does require some skill.

it is a 3d skybox... but may be the sky texture... dunno. It has happened with all the textures I used so far. But they weren't more than 2 or 3 so I'll try other textures to see if any of them really has a base.

Exactly.
I've been reading and I finally realized what bk and ft and all those letters mean.
so I browsed the skies in hammer and I see that very few of them have a base. And the ones that have, stupidly have a sky picture in the "dn" part of it. which replaces the big white square by a sky-with-a-horinzon-line picture. Worse than my 1st problem.
But there's the solution. I'll see if I can change some skyes manually to create a seamless bottom for the one's I decide to use. I guess Valve never needed the bottom parts anyway...
