Woo, politics. Geez.
Reason I followed your tuts of all tutorials out there are 1) they had sound, 2) you talk clearly and are easily understood, and 3) you cover what you need to cover. And that was really useful for me, if I needed to go back and look at something I could easily find what I was looking for and easily follow the specific example. I don't understand how they would want you to do it; give the little noobs a brick and tell them to swallow? Optimization and things are much easier to understand once you understand mapping -- learning everything at once would be much more difficult and turn beginners away from mapping.
Can imagine them having the first three five minute tutorials being a lecture on proper form and then they start using brushes on the fifth.

I guess it's just because they're all noobs over at that forum, I have no trouble going 'oh look optimization, lets use it!' or what ever. They're saying that your first map will have to be perfect, since you'll never get better after that. I'd rather stick by my belief that there's enough to pick up on your first map with out having to worry about complex theories and stuff you DON'T EVEN NEED, so keep it as simple as possible. Same applies to the tutorials for it.

you are encouraging people to carve and not optimize well. :\ I have my reasons for not teaching optimization in my first map tutorial. But the carve thing I won't accept. Facepunch users think that I encourage carving, which I have NEVER done. Ever. I have said that it is bad since I started making tutorials and if you think that I've said it's good then you've just been listening to people at facepunch. Are you just commenting back to when I clicked on the clipping tool and said 'I think this is the carve tool' ? Because that seems to be the basis of everybody's argument that I think that you should carve your map. And that's just being very immature.

I am just so bored reading through that so i am going to give you a himp of text that will break their wall down. You might have to correct O.o...
They take their maps so seriously and you teach the easiest ways of mapping for beginners. My self actually just watched the videos and then used stuff after a while i started experiment on my own. But when your done with your series for beginners you could make a new series that is for people who achieve the best. You could for example at first video load up the map de_cbble.vmf and explain what everything inside this map does and what it is good for.
They say carving is bad... and you also say that. And never use carve unless you have a good damn reason.
Now lets compare the "Mapping" with something in real life. Like a guitar. You draw your fingers over the strings or whatever they are called and someone say " HEY, USE THIS YOU HURT MY EARS OTHER WISE ! " You think he would try with that "item" or would he put the instrument away ? Generally put it away. As you teach a person to play guitar you shouldn't go at the pro stuff direct. Etc, use a thing there to make better sound and use this item to avoid bla bla bla...
Now lets compare with another thing. Math for example. When you started school you didn't have a teacher saying " GO THE HELL OUT OF THE CLASSROOM CAUSE YOU JJUST WROTE WRONG! " and you did only write 1+1=11. By saying so you dis encourage people to go on with the math and eventually think its boring. Which isn't good at all cause when your bored at something you rarely take something into the head. It just floats by. By saying good things and bad things of his mapping skills does help him grow. Saying to this kid " No no that's wrong. Look at this two lego pieces. One lego piece and another lego piece becomes two lego pieces. in other words 1+1=2".
I didn't use so much energy on "helping" you with real life subjects but i am telling you to use this as a defence cause this compare is much better to use as defence/mask to make people think its much worser / better then it sounds. Look after something really exact to "mapping" and compare them to and write in text as a defence by comparing this two subjects into one subject. Make them feel like they should have been given birth of their mothers.
And if they said anything bad regarding me i could sue them since its considered harassment. And i think they have those terms in their agreement to not harrase or do such things to people cause it could hurt people mentally. In sweden it's called E-mobbing what they are doing. And i just need a such site and i could sue all those members on a pretty high amount of cash.... Which would be kind to their wallet.

I was actually reading this before... and I said to myself, these guys are absolute idiots. Half of them have been banned from facepunch and don't know what they're talking about! You just gotta ignore these idiots. Even if you do make a few mistakes, you do this stuff alone; those other websites have tons of people, and they're nowhere near as good as you! You do pretty much the best tutorials on the net.

BluE, I've never claimed to be the best mapper ever. But at least I spend my time trying to help people. Hundreds of people. And it's because of that that I've got a lot better. Although I started mapping in early 2005, the biggest improvement I've encountered has been since I started making tutorials for it.
My experience with helping people has given me a big advantage when it comes to making tutorials. I know what new mappers tend to struggle on, and what they're capable of doing. They're not interested in optimization.
