I keep reading/hearing that things such as stairs, arches, rounded corners, etc should be func_detail, but what are regular walls supposed to be?
When I create anything, it defaults to func_detail, so what should regular walls be?
thank you

just normal brushes. ie do NOT ctrl+T (move to entity).
When you make a brush, it's by default a "world brush". You can turn a brush-entity into a world brush by clicking "move to world" or ctrl+E (i think).

What does func_detail do? I read that if you look at a func_detail, it still draws whats behind it, but if you look at a normal block it doesn't draw whats behind it. If that's true, then how does having func_details help? To my understanding that would lower the player's FPS. :l

the best way to use func_detail is to only make the details func_detail eg. if you had a wall with a whole bunch of colums and architraves attached to it, you'd make the columns and architraves func_detail but leave the wall alone so it blocks visibility, but the details dont.
